Viral Picture Of “Heroic” Flight Attendant Found To Be False — Asiana Airlines Alleged To Have Lied About Incident

Originally it was reported that the flight attendant blocked the exit with her body.

A picture of an Asiana Airlines flight attendant who was deemed a hero after allegedly using her body to block an open plane door mid-flight has been revealed as taken out of context.

Earlier on May 26, passengers on an Asiana Airlines flight headed for Daegu, South Korea, went through a traumatic experience when a man pushed open a door mid-flight.

A video and an alleged photo of the incident quickly went viral. In the video, passengers can be seen facing a chaotic scene as winds rushed through the plane, while the photo was first alleged to have been of an Asiana Airlines flight attendant risking her safety by using her body to block the open exit of the plane.

News reports hailed the flight attendant as a hero, but an MBC new report revealed that the picture was taken after the flight had landed and the situation had been resolved. Asiana Airlines had originally stated that the picture was taken while the plane was moving.

The news report revealed that Asiana Airlines lied about another aspect of the incident. Originally, it was reported that Asiana, after the plane had landed, immediately transferred the man who opened the door to police, but it has been revealed that the flight crew had no idea who had opened the door and that the man had gotten off the flight and was arrested only after he asked an Asiana employee at the airport if it was illegal for a passenger to open the emergency door.
