“I would like to express my deepest apologies to the artist who has been hurt by my careless words.”
Stray Kids‘ bang chan has issued an apology on Instagram following the controversy that arose after some comments the idol made during his most recent broadcast on Chan’s Room. After chatting with fans on May 14, Bang Chan started talking about the topic of manners and bowing as he shared some concerns he had about the generational differences when it comes to basic manners.
The Stray Kids star revealed that he thought the newer generation feels more relaxed about the custom of greeting people.
I’m not like cussing people out or anything, but I feel like I’m thinking too much about it because if you see someone walk by, you say Hello, then if they don’t reply back, you’d be like, ‘What the…okay.’ But I feel like it’s come to the point where this generation is allowed to do that, just not care, if that’s right.

Bang Chan then added that he himself had experienced a few occasions where people hadn’t greeted him back. While sharing his thoughts on the matter, the idol also wondered if he was “overthinking” the issue. Even though the comments were full of fans asking him to reveal the names of those people, Bang Chan refused to do so, saying that there could be reasons why they didn’t return his greetings.
I’m not going to say names, but I guess some people that I don’t know, I guess it’s like that. Maybe that could be the reason why, because there’s no connection. Maybe, they could’ve been shy or nervous.

Even after Chan’s Room was concluded, the topic remained a hot debate on the internet, with fans sharing their own opinions on the change in mannerisms among the newer generation of idols. They even started speculating on who Bang Chan might have been talking about, which only increased the discussions online.
Chan shouldn’t have to deal with this stuff, its basic manners. If I’m greeting someone and that person ignores me that’s just rude and disrespectful.

It seems like the Stray Kids star felt responsible for the controversy that followed his comments, as today he took to Instagram to issue an apology to those “hurt by [his] careless words.”
Bang Chan shared he considered the impact his words and behavior can have on others and deeply reflected. The idol also revealed that he had no intention of specifying certain artists when sharing his thoughts on the custom of greeting and mannerisms.
Hello, this is Bang Chan from Stray Kids.
I apologize for the offense caused by the comments I made during a recent live broadcast. I thought about the impact my words and behavior can have on others, and have deeply reflected on myself. I would like to mention that it was not my intention to specify a certain artist, and that my comments had nothing to do with the artist being mentioned currently.

Before concluding his apology, Bang Chan promised to be more cautious in the future to ensure “this doesn’t happen again.”
I would like to express my deepest apologies to the artist who has been hurt by my careless words. I sincerely apologize. I will be more cautious of what I say in order to ensure this does not happen again. Once again, I sincerely apologize.
