A man who went viral for merely appearing in the backdrop of BLACKPINK Jennie‘s Met Gala interview has met with an unexpected fate, all because of his enviable visuals.
In 2023, Jennie turned heads on the Met Gala carpet in a Chanel minidress, a reinterpretation of look 164 from Carl Lagerfeld’s autumn/winter 1990 ready-to-wear collection.
But during her interview, a man in the background stole the spotlight as viewers couldn’t help but be distracted by his sharp visuals. Fast-forward to 2024, and the very same man has once again gone viral on social media after revealing that he was fired from his job at the Met Gala because he was too attractive.
Eugenio Casnighi, the Italian model, recently posted a rant video on his TikTok and revealed that he worked at the event as a model and greeter in 2022 and 2023. Last year, he was assigned to accompany Kylie Jenner. As a result, he ended up on the backdrop of multiple celebrity shots, going viral almost immediately.
This year, Casnighi was booked for the same role at the event, which is slated to take place on Monday, May 6. But he was fired from the job at the last minute, as his employers reasoned, “You made it about yourself.”
Casnighi expressed his frustration at this reason, arguing that he was hired based on the very criteria that they needed someone to look nice beside the celebrity guests. He couldn’t avoid being photographed while doing his job, but he had to get fired for it.
Netizens, still smitten by Casnighi’s charms, are rallying behind him, showing support for his future ventures.
