But from time to time, some of our favorite stars have to go through painful heartbreaks, that too publicly. Here are 5 instances when celebrities faced a messy divorce due to their partner’s problematic actions.
1. Goo Hye Sun and Ahn Jae Hyun
Actress Goo Hye Sun and actor Ahn Jae Hyun announced their divorce in 2019, three years after their marriage. Dispatch then revealed two years’ worth of text messages between the couple, which showed the unfortunate downhill progression of their relationship. The actress, however, took fans by surprise when she publicly announced that the reason behind the divorce was her husband’s infidelity.

2. Hwang Jung Eum
In February 2024, actress Hwang Jung Eum put her husband on blast through her social media account, accusing him of cheating. The couple, married since 2016, had already been through a rough patch before in 2020. They had gone so far as to file a divorce before reconciling in 2021. But in 2024, Hwang wrote on social media that he had multiple affairs outside his marriage. The actress ended up filing for divorce a second time in February.
3. Seo Sarang
The former SUS4 member announced her divorce from her husband, Lee Jung Hwan, in 2023. She married Lee in 2019 and gave birth to her daughter six months later. But soon after, their union turned sour, leading to a one-year long divorce proceedings. Seo Sarang accused her husband of domestic abuse, but he denied them all. She, however, made pictures of her badly battered face public, which convinced people of her accusations.
The two were officially divorced in November 2023.
4. Seo Yu Ri
Actress Seo Yu Ri divorced her husband in March 2024 after five years of marriage. She announced the news during a livestream, revealing that she had already moved out of the shared house with her husband and was only in touch with him through his legal representatives. During the same broadcast, she also revealed the reason behind the decision, saying she “did not receive any love” from her husband and felt like she “wasn’t being acknowledged as a woman.”
5. Seo Ju Won and Aori
Influencer and car racer Seo Ju Won became a famous public figure after appearing on the dating show Heart Signal. But around the same time, it was revealed that he was being sued for allegedly cheating on his wife, Kim Min Young, better known as the YouTuber Aori. The two got married in 2018, but rumors of estrangement surfaced in early 2022. When the news of Seo being sued surfaced in 2023, his representatives revealed that the couple had already divorced in 2022. Kim also sued Seo’s alleged mistress after the divorce.
