A K-Pop idol on an Indian TV show? That’s right! Korean soloist AOORA is a contestant on the 17th season of India’s biggest reality TV show “Bigg Boss” (Hindi), and he is quickly becoming a fan favorite. Credit where it’s due; he is super entertaining!
For those who might not know, “Bigg Boss” is the Indian version of the original Dutch “Big Brother”. Celebrity contestants live together under the same roof for a predetermined period of time and are monitored 24×7 by innumerable cameras. The show airs every day of the week on the Colors channel and is also broadcast live 24×7 via the OTT platform JioCinema. It is hosted by Indian megastar Salman Khan.
AOORA is a Korean musician who is quickly rising in popularity because of his appearance on “Bigg Boss”. AOORA already has a huge established fanbase in India, who call themselves Aurians. However, he is no newcomer in the K-Pop industry. He debuted in 2009 and was a part of the Korean boy band Double-A and its subunit Aoora&Hoik. He made his solo debut in 2014.
A major reason for AOORA’s rise to fame is his penchant for making mashups and K-Pop versions of classic Bollywood songs. He has performed five concerts in India so far.
The singer admits to being inspired by the colors and energy of India, and his success in the country is proof that he is being loved. Now, with “Bigg Boss”, he is well on his way to becoming a household name in India. Viewers are enjoying his high-energy antics and appreciate his love for India.
