Ministry of Industry and Technologyhas implemented new regulations aiming to increase the safety of life and property on highways. With the regulations published in the Official Gazette, significant changes were made regarding the safety standards of motor vehicles. The changes made taking into account international automotive legislation aimed to increase the safety of citizens’ lives and property on the roads and to comply with EU legislation.

The provisions regarding special test procedures and technical requirements for type approval of the systems related to the changes made by the Ministry and the procedures and principles for their implementation were determined.

Distraction warning system becomes mandatory

This system will detect situations where the driver’s visual attention is not focused on driving tasks and warn the driver through the human-machine interface. In addition, the system will monitor the driver’s attention distribution (viewpoints) according to environmental conditions and give visual, auditory or tactile warnings when necessary.

Data regarding the recorded crash will be provided through a serial data port on the standardized data link connector specified in the relevant regulation. In cases where the serial data port is no longer functional after the collision, data will be retrieved by connecting directly to the event data recorder system.

Data recorded by the event data logger system will not be accessible via interfaces that can be accessed without the need to unlock the vehicle or use tools, or via vehicle interfaces for wireless connections.
