The left-leaning The Guardian, which has 10.7 million followers on X, became the first major British media company to withdraw from the platform. Some critics say Musk’s hands-off approach to the platform has allowed fake news and hate speech to spread.
The Guardian included the following words in an editorial published on its website: “We feel that the benefits of being on thing.”
The statement also criticized Musk’s support for Trump and included the following: “The US presidential election campaign has re-emphasized a truth we have long thought: X is a toxic media platform and its owner “Elon Musk is able to use the platform’s influence to shape political discourse.”
The statement noted that The Guardian reporters could continue to use X for news gathering purposes, and that X content could be used in the newspaper’s articles from time to time within the framework of live news broadcasting. It was also stated that newspaper contents can also be used by users on X.
