According to data from China EV DataTracker, sales of Tesla Model Y will increase compared to 2023. 5.24 percent increase showed. Model Y, which sold 456,394 units in 2023, recorded a significant growth by selling 480,309 units in 2024. Especially the sales success of 61,881 units in December was the peak of this performance.
This success of Model Y is directly associated with Tesla’s marketing and sales strategies, which intensified in the Chinese market towards the end of the year. Grace Tao, Tesla’s senior manager in China, emphasized that Tesla’s lack of recalls in the last six years is a great advantage in terms of reliability.
During 2024, Tesla Model Y will become the best-selling vehicle in the Chinese market. BID Qin Plus sedan second by only 284 vehicles ranked next. BYD was the leader for the first 11 months of the year, but Tesla’s strong December performance changed that ranking.
Meanwhile, global sales of Tesla Model Y declined in some markets in 2024. The declines experienced in markets such as Norway (27%), Iceland (87%) and Luxembourg (31%) are attributed to an aging design perception due to the model’s debut date of 2019.
