Teknosa published the ‘Technology Shopping Report’ for 2024 by analyzing the shopping trends of millions of visitors in different categories. The shining technology products of the year were determined in the study, which included many products from smart technologies to accessories, from small household appliances to personal care products.
Smartphones, which remain at the top of technology shopping, became the leading product of the year. While there was a two-fold and four-fold increase in the sales of phones with 256 GB and 512 GB memory, respectively, in 2024, the favorite color of the year was black. iPhone 13 series and iPhone 15 Pro Max models were among the most preferred smartphones. Another common choice of both male and female consumers was Bluetooth headsets and smart watches.
Phone accessories, a fun way to personalize technology, continued to attract attention throughout the year. Accessories such as screen protectors, cases and chargers have become indispensable for consumers.
Entertainment was at the forefront of Turkey’s technology preferences. The most popular product category after smartphones was LCD televisions. While the 65″ screen size attracted attention as the most preferred product in the LCD TV category, 55″ and 75″ models also attracted great attention. The “big screen, big entertainment” mentality has set the trends in TV shopping.
Tablet sales increased by 19% and became one of the popular choices of users. While the growth in storage capacities in the notebook and tablet categories, which offer solutions to different needs with their new hardware, affected the purchasing decision, consumers preferred notebooks with 512 GB SSD. Screen sizes stood out as another decisive factor in tablet and notebook sales. While the most preferred tablets of the year were models with 11″ screens, sales in the notebook category were 15.6″, followed by 13.3″ and 14.0″ screens.
Among the rising trends in technology shopping in 2024, small home appliances, personal care products and gaming products were among the shining categories. In the small home appliances category, vacuum cleaner sales increased by 13% and coffee machine sales increased by 41%. Consoles, preferred by game lovers who want to experience entertainment and competition, have increased among male users, showing a 78% increase. Laser epilation device sales, which attracted particular attention from female consumers, became the favorite product of the year with an increase of 110%.
