Mukbang YouTuber and entrepreneur Heebab shocked the public by revealing her cumulative earnings over the past three years and how much she pays her employees.
On September 17, Heebab appeared on KBS2’s Boss in the Mirror as a representative of her company. The episode showed a day in the life of Heebab as the CEO in her meeting with her board members. She showed her charisma by being straightforward and scolding team members who were not prepared for the meeting.
When asked about the salaries of the company’s board members, Heebab shared that she personally sends each of the board members their monthly pay. The board members revealed that they get paid around ₩12.0 million KRW (about $9,080 USD) before taxes every month. This shocked the panelists, and singer Uee jokingly asked if Heebab was looking for any new employees.
Heebab said she pays her team a lot because they have been working together since the company started. She also revealed that new employees also receive a generous monthly salary.
The board members and I have been together since the early days of the company, so we I give them a lot. Even entry-level employees receive a generous amount. The starting salary for newcomers in the producer line is over ₩5.00 million KRW (about $3,780 USD).
Heebab also mentioned that her company’s annual sales were over ₩2.00 billion KRW (about $1.51 million USD). When asked about the main source of income, she revealed that PPL (Product Placement) accounts for the most significant part and that each advertisement pays a hefty amount of money.
For each advertisement, we receive about the price of a domestic mid-sized car.
She explained that the cumulative earnings from 2019 to 2022, excluding PPL, amounted to ₩2.40 billion KRW (about $1.82 million USD). Her goal for this year is to reach cumulative earnings of ₩3.00 billion KRW (about $2.27 million USD). She also surprised the public by revealing she earned $9,330 over a year from a single video she made with chef Lee Yeon Bok.
Heebab has been active as a creator on platforms such as AfreecaTV and YouTube since 2019. As of this article, she has 1.53 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.
