With the bill submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly by the AK Party in October, all credit cards with a limit of 100 thousand TL and above will be banned. 750 TL per year amount to the Defense Industry Support Fund contribution was planned to be acquired. Following the reactions, this article was removed from the bill. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a new statement on the issue.

President Erdoğan made statements on the plane upon his return from the G20 Leaders Summit held in Brazil. Emphasizing that this regulation has been shelved, President Erdoğan said:

“We are not a government that is trying to collect money from the public regarding the defense industry. Such a thing is absolutely out of the question. The opposition is in a miserable state to say that our government is “trying to solve the problems by collecting money from the public.” We do not have such a problem. Thank God “Our financial means currently have the strength and capability to keep our defense industry afloat.”

Other articles will be discussed in 2025

Other articles in the bill will be discussed in 2025. It is planned to collect Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) from motorcycles with an engine cylinder volume below 100 CC and an engine power not exceeding 6 kilowatts, a 20 percent Special Consumption Tax (SCT) from drones, and a contribution to the Defense Industry Support Fund from notary transactions.
