Special communication tax increased by 43.9 percent
The Special Communication Tax (SCT), which has been increased by 43.93 percent in 2025, increases the extra burden on those who will purchase a new mobile phone line. With the decision published in the Official Gazette, new line owners will pay this tax as of January 1, 2025.
SCT, also known as earthquake tax, was at the level of 400 TL in 2024, and in 2025 this tax item increases to 575 TL.
CAN BE PAID IN 12 MONTHS INSTALLMENTS
New line owners will be able to pay the 575 TL tax in installments by adding it to their invoice amount as 48 TL per month for 12 months. In addition, the 10 percent SCT, which has been applied since 2021, will also be increased according to the revaluation rate.
SCT is a tax collected on mobile lines, internet services and other electronic communication services. This tax is an important source of income affecting millions of phone owners and will create an additional cost, especially for those who will buy new lines.
