Sony is interested in FromSoftware
Sony told Yahoo Japan. “It is true that we made our first statement of intent. However, we kindly ask for your understanding that we refrain from commenting further at this stage.” He stated that the process is still in its early stages. Kadokawa, on the other hand, said that they received a letter of intent from Sony last month, but “no decision has been made yet.”
According to reports, Sony’s possible acquisition move caused mixed feelings among Kadokawa employees. According to a report by Bunshun, one of Japan’s well-known news platforms, some employees of the company are excited about this development. It is stated that some are unhappy with the current management under CEO Takeshi Natsuno. However, there are also those who are critical of the acquisition plan.
Some analysts say Kadokawa will lose its independence and become a more rigid place. Of course, these are claims and any possible purchase will depend on Sony. Meanwhile, Sony currently owns a 2 percent stake in Kadokawa. In addition, the company’s minority stake in FromSoftware is around 15 percent.
