Aiming to increase the use of renewable energy in its factories by 8 times by 2030 and to become completely carbon neutral in 2050. Şişecam Automotivecontinues to take important steps in this direction. The company is preparing to switch to renewable energy in its production facility in Kırklareli, and for this purpose, will install a wind turbine next to the facility. This wind turbine project, which will be implemented with an investment of 37.2 million TL, will meet the entire energy needs of this production facility with its 4 MW capacity.

Şişecam’s project in Lüleburgaz’s Büyükkarıştıran document was approved by the General Directorate of Environmental Impact Assessment, Permit and Inspection of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and the EIA process was initiated. When the Environmental Impact Assessment process is completed, installation will be carried out in the area and the wind turbine will be put into operation.

Şişecam Automotive Will Install the Wind Turbine Directly Next to the Facility

The wind turbine, which will be installed directly on the factory site, will be installed and operated by Şişecam Automotive. The energy obtained from this wind turbine will be used only for the internal consumption of the factory belonging to Şişecam Automotive. will produce enough energy to meet the entire energy needs of the factory. It is expected that the wind turbine will continue to be used actively as long as this facility in Lüleburgaz operates.

Şişecam Automotive says in its sustainability report: “We see sustainability as the focal point of our operations and an element at the core of our business model. In this regard, we plan and carry out all our investment decisions, product and process development studies, taking into account social and environmental impacts.”

Wind energy will be one of the most important parts of Turkey’s energy future. Türkiye aims to reach 120 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2035. Wind energy constitutes 40 percent of this target. It is aimed to double Turkey’s current 13 gigawatt wind energy capacity by 2030.
