Disney removed the Star Wars movie, which was previously announced to be released on December 18, 2026, from the release calendar. He replaced it with Ice Age 6.
The fate of the Rey movie, which was removed from the release calendar, is unknown. Disney’s release calendar has December 17, 2027 reserved for an unspecified Star Wars movie. The studio may shift the Rey movie here. However, the Rey movie is not the only candidate for this date. Because just last week it was announced that Simon Kinberg will prepare a new Star Wars trilogy. Disney may reserve the date it reserved for Star Wars in 2027 for this movie as well.
Regardless of Disney’s choice, the Rey character looks set to return to the big screen in the near future. Because according to the news this week, Lucasfilm sees the Rey character as the cornerstone of future Star Wars movies. So, the character of Rey is said to be used in several different Star Wars movies currently in preparation. Apparently Lucasfilm hasn’t learned much from its failures in recent years.
