One of the most important new features in Android 15; application archiving. This feature frees up storage space by letting you delete an app’s installation and temporary files without touching its data. Archiving an application allows you to free up some space without having to completely reinstall it the next time you want to use it, and saves you the trouble of reinstalling it. Although app archiving is a feature of Android 15, manufacturers are free to implement it in their own operating systems or not. Samsung brought this feature to its phones with the One UI 7.0 update.

One UI 7 brings app archiving feature

The application archiving feature has been opened to users participating in the One UI 7 beta program. To use the new feature, you’ll open the app information screen of any app and tap the Archive button. The application will be archived and free up space on your device. When you want to install the application again, you will be able to install it on your phone much faster than normal by tapping the Restore button.

Application archiving feature For installations made from supported stores such as Google Play Store, Galaxy Store can be used. This feature will come to all Galaxy phones and tablets with the release of One UI 7.0 final version in early 2025.
