The film focuses on a boy named Elio, who has an extremely active imagination. Elio, a true space fanatic, finds himself on a space base known as the Communiverse one day, and sees it as the adventure of his dreams. Until he realizes that he has been brought as the leader of the Earth to the Communiverse, where representatives of civilizations from different galaxies come together. In order for this misunderstanding to not cause a galactic crisis, Elio must establish bonds with various beings from different civilizations.

The voice cast of the film includes Yonas Kibreab, Zoe Saldaña, Remy Edgerly, Brad Garrett, Jameela Jamil and Shirley Henderson.
