MAMAMOO Announces First U.S. Tour
For the first time since their debut, MAMMOO will be embarking on a U.S. tour. Having been to the U.S. previously for fanmeetings and festivals such as KCONthis will be the quartet’s first full tour stateside. The U.S. leg of the MY CON tour will take place starting May 16th in New York, before moving west to finish up on June 4th in Los Angeles.
Debuting in 2014 with funky pop song “Mr. Ambiguous,” the group quickly became best known for their strong vocals and easygoing personalities. By the end of that year, MAMAMOO was already ranked in the top ten amongst idol girl group digital sales in South Korea, but it wasn’t until their summer 2015 release “Um Oh Ah Yeah” that the group’s popularity skyrocketed. The single peaked at number three on Gaon’s digital charts, and the promotion period for the song also brought along the group’s first fanmeeting, which sold out Seoul’s Olympic Park in minutes.
In 2016, the quartet earned their first number one single and music show win with “You’re the Best (You are something),” and made their first U.S. appearance at the famed SXSW Festival. Since then, the group has released several singles, albums, OSTs, and solos, with the most recent being their October 2022 EP, Mic Onwith title song “Illella.” The album features all four members — Hwasa, Moonbyul, Solar, and Wheein — despite Wheein having left their company, RBW Entertainmentearlier on in 2022.
