Businesses on the Las Vegas Strip Aim to Switch to 100 Percent Renewable Energy
This project will have two legs: solar energy production and storage. JinkoSolar solar panels installed in Las Vegas 180 MW While offering photovoltaic (PV) capacity, as well as 400MWs capacity Tesla batteries will make it possible to provide 24/7 electricity to hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. The majority of this electricity (115 MW) will go to MGM Resorts International’s hotels and casinos. The remaining electricity will be distributed to other resort hotels in that region and the region’s electricity grid.
MGM Resorts International, the largest casino company in the world Aims to switch to 100 percent renewable energy by 2030. According to standards set by the state of Nevada, hotels and casinos in Las Vegas must provide at least 50 percent of their electricity needs from renewable energy by 2030. Many of the hotels and entertainment centers in the region have already exceeded 40 percent. Other operators in the region are taking important steps to meet all of their electricity needs from renewable energy in the near future by signing similar agreements with MGM Resorts International. Las Vegas is rapidly transitioning to renewable energy.
Another striking point of the project, which is expected to be operational this year, is that it will be developed and installed locally. This project, developed in Lincoln Country, just north of Las Vegas, will bring $80 million in revenue to the region.
