tvN / Awesome Entertainment

Welcome to Kpopmap’s newest weekly series, K-Variety Round Up! We know that Monday can be one of the most difficult days of the week for many reasons. The Monday blues is a global phenomenon that can infect everyone at any given time. But through K-Variety Round Up, we hope to provide the perfect serotonin boost to help alleviate an otherwise dreary Monday.

Through this series, we focus on a few tidbits and highlights from various Korean variety shows that you might have missed over the past week/weekend. These clips might appear on social media feeds, but it can be difficult to watch everything, considering the sheer amount of variety shows out there, along with our busy schedules.

But we’re here to make things a little easier and bring the joy from these shows right to your fingertips. Now, let’s take a look down below for a well deserved Monday pick-me-up!

1. Words Of Encouragement From Park SeoJun

Sometimes you need that little pep talk while getting ready for work in the morning. It’s understandable as you face another hectic work day. But why give the pep talk yourself when you can get one from the iconic actor Park SeoJun! On the most recent episode of one of tvN’s newest variety shows, “Jinny’s Kitchen“, Park SeoJun had a lovely exchange with fellow castmate, Jung YuMi.

YuMi was busily preparing food for customers and due to the long wait, she was in a rush to get the orders out. Seeing this, SeoJun comes to her side and offers words of comfort. “Taking it slow is better than messing up”. The moment might have been short, but it was imbued with a sincerity that can be felt by all viewers. It was as if the actor were speaking to all of us when offering this kind reminder.

2. Eating With The Kids On “Superman Is Back”

No matter how bad of a Monday it might be, children have the power to make even the worst days infinitely times better. Whether they’re happily playing or simply at rest, you cannot help but smile in the presence of a child. The same can be said when watching them on “Superman is Back“.

On this episode, THE BOYZ’ YoungHoon and Juyeon make an appearance on the widely popular variety program, along with variety superstar KwangHee. The three are seen having a nice meal with the siblings of Park NaEun, Park GeonHuand Park JinWoo. One of the highlights was YoungHoon being unable to interpret the wants of baby JinWoo. Although the pair had trouble during the meal, their interactions were absolutely adorable to watch. You cannot help but smile at the sight of JinWoo’s frustration and YoungHoon’s desperateness to get along with the child.

3. Hilarious Rendition Of SoYou & Jungigo’s ‘Some’

‘Some’ is an iconic K-Pop love song, giving birth to the slang of the same name that many Koreans use today. With the combination of SoYou and Jungigo’s spectacular vocals, ‘Some’ has become ingrained in many people’s minds across the globe. It’s sweet with the power to make anyone want to go out on a lovely date. There have been numerous covers of the iconic track, but leave it to the cast of “Saturday Night Live Korea” to make the love song comedic and fun in their appearance on JTBC’s “Knowing Bros“.

In the duet between actors Joo HyunYoung and Jung Sang Hoonthey sing under the persona of a Japanese and Chinese person respectively. This gives way to a never before seen rendition of the legendary hit song. It was difficult for even HyunYoung to hold back her laughter once SangHoon started singing, but they completed the segment without any trouble. The entire studio loved it and we can’t help but admit that this rendition sounded amazing. We need a full cover from them right away!

4. THE BOYZ’ JuYeon “Amazing Saturday” Fancam

Sometimes it doesn’t take much to rid ourselves from the Monday blues. A tried and true pick-me-up could come in the form of a simple fancam of our favorite idol. Whether or not THE BOYZ’ JuYeon is your ultimate bias, this fancam will definitely shake off some of the gloom that comes with the start of the work week.

To start it off, he does a short dance cover of INFINITE‘s hit song, ‘Be Mine’. From the beginning, all longtime K-Pop fans are surely singing and dancing along to this iconic track. Then, we’re treated to a sweet interaction between the male idol and Girls’ Generation’s TaeYeon dancing to THE BOYZ trendy and addictive ‘Thrill Ride’. This fancam is the perfect video to watch to get you moving this Monday!

We hope with this edition of K-Variety Round Up, your Monday is filled with happiness and strength. Fighting!
