CEO’s Formula 1 Stefano DomenicaliHe stated that General Motors and Cadillac’s commitment to the project represents an evolution in the sport. Domenicali, “General Motors and Cadillac’s commitment to this project is an important and positive indicator of the evolution of our sport. “We look forward to seeing the progress and growth of this application, confident of the full cooperation and support of all parties involved.” he said.
General Motors and Cadillac will enter the sport not only as a team but also as an engine supplier, but this will be for 2028, not 2026. GM/Cadillac will purchase the power unit from a different engine supplier for 2026 and 2027. It is stated that this will most likely be Ferrari.
CEO of TWG Global, one of GM’s main business partners in this project Dan Towriss whereas, “We are excited to partner with General Motors to bring a dynamic presence to Formula 1. “We appreciate that the FIA and FOM supported our application and recognized the value we can add to the championship.” he said.
“My first love was Formula 1 and now – 70 years later – the F1 paddock is still my happy place. Cadillac, Formula 1, Mark Walter and Dan Towriss excite me very much. “To still be involved in this at this stage of my life… I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming.” says Andretti.
GM had previously made an offer to enter F1 with Andretti Global, but this offer was rejected by F1 despite the FIA’s approval. However, after Michael Andretti withdrew from the organization that bears his name in September and handed over control to majority owner Dan Towriss, a clean slate opened for Towriss and GM.
