Musk stated that they aim to produce 50,000 to 100,000 robots in 2026 and plan to increase this number 10 times in 2027. This statement shows that Tesla is moving away from vehicle production towards humanoid robots. In a previous statement, Musk said that Tesla’s future would focus mainly on Optimus robots.
Optimus robot offers an advanced system that can interact with its environment using Tesla’s artificial intelligence and neural network technologies. Robots powered by the AI4 chip currently used in Tesla’s FSD (Full Autonomous Driving) systems are expected to be powered by the AI5 chip in the commercial version. The AI5 chip is scheduled to enter production this year.
It is known that Tesla will primarily use these robots on its own factory floors. Bank of America analyst John Murphy predicts that approximately 1,000 Optimus robots could be employed in Tesla factories by the end of 2025.
Deutsche Bank estimates that Tesla can generate annual revenue of $10 billion from Optimus robot sales by 2035. This prediction is based on sales of 200,000 robots and a price tag of $50,000 per unit.
