Living in Michigan, USA Richard Densmorewas sentenced to 30 years in prison as one of the leaders of an online community that targeted children and forced them to engage in violence, self-harm and sexually explicit acts. Densmore was arrested by the FBI, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. first degree terrorist threat classified as “764He was a member of the online terrorist network called ” and admitted to child abuse charges.
They seek “fame”
FBI Director Christopher Wray in his statement “This defendant created a community targeting children through online gaming sites and used extortion and blackmail to coerce his underage victims into recording acts of self-harm and violence. If you’re preying on kids online, you can’t hide behind a keyboard. “The FBI will use all of our resources and authority to arrest you and hold you accountable.” he said.

It was stated that Densmore sought to increase his own “fame” in online groups called “Sewer”, where he was known under the pseudonym “Rabid”, and forced his victims to extreme actions such as self-harm through live broadcasts. Prosecutor Mark Totten, who took part in the investigation, said that they would always fight these crimes and also warned the families; “Parents: please talk to your children about this threat; monitor their social media usage; and let them know they can always come to you if they mess up.”
The US Department of Justice has emphasized the need to carefully monitor children’s online activities and has urged parents to watch for sudden changes in their children’s behavior or signs of self-harm. The FBI also pointed out the importance of providing children with an environment they can safely turn to when threatened.
