Copyright move to OpenAI in India

The important names of India’s digital news industry have launched a legal process against OpenAI on the allegation of copyright violations. The leading media organizations such as Digital News Units of Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, Indian Express and Hindustan Times claim that OpenAI uses their content by scanning the news sites without permission.

Participation of Adan and Ambanı

Many media organizations, including Adani’s NDTV and Ambani’s Network18, reported that they want to be involved in the ongoing case by applying to the new Delhi Court. These organizations claim that OpenAI has scanned and reproduced news content without permission to present the powerful artificial intelligence tool to users.

Previous cases and new interventions

This development is following the case of the local news agency Ani against OpenAI last year. In the 135 -page case file examined by Reuters, OpenAI’s behavior constitutes a “open and close threat to the valuable copyrights of DNPA members and other organizations. OpenAI rejects these claims and argues that their systems are used in a fair way.

Courts around the world examine the cases that claim that the content of writers, news organizations and musicians should be used in AI services in contradiction with copyrights. India Express, Hindustan Times, Adani’s NDTV and DNPA, this new case application, will add strength to the case against Microsoft -backed OpenAI.
