Baojun brand, established in partnership with SAIC-GM-Wuling, introduced its new sedan model Xiangjing. Described as the brand’s “first smart flagship sedan model”, the car will be offered for sale in 100% electric and rechargeable hybrid (PHEV) versions.

Baojun Xiangjing; It has a length of 5005 mm and a wheelbase of 2900 mm. For comparison, we can say that BYD is 10 mm longer than the Han model. The car has an aerodynamic design. Although the front design varies depending on the version (electric or PHEV), the general appearance is the same.

The LED lighting at the front creates a striking integrity with the air intakes extending downwards like teardrops. The electric version has a protruding nose design that is designed to be completely closed. In the PHEV version, the LED light signature combining a thin grille and headlights draws attention.

When we look at the car from the side, we are greeted by a liftback style silhouette with two-tone aerodynamic wheels, hidden door handles, chrome details on the frames and side sills. At the rear, there are LED taillights and diffuser extending from end to end. The most important detail that allows us to distinguish the two versions in this area is the exhaust outlets.

The electric version of Xiangjing has an electric motor that produces 186 kW (249 hp). Lithium iron phosphate battery was used in the model, whose top speed was announced as 170 km/h. Values ​​such as battery capacity and range are not yet clear.

In the PHEV version, there is a combination of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 141 hp, an electric motor and a lithium iron phosphate battery. The pure electric driving range of the PHEV version, which has a top speed of 190 km/h, is 101 km according to CLTC.

Baojun was founded in 2010 and achieved annual sales of one million in 2017. Afterwards, a period of complete collapse began for the company. The Chinese company could only sell 51,600 units in 2023. Baojun, which produces mostly compact vehicles, hopes to recover its sales with mainstream models that appeal to young families, such as the new Xiangjing model.
