Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, regarding the Chemistry Technology Center, which is an important step in moving the technology development and testing infrastructure of the chemical industry forward and was implemented with an investment of 165 million liras, said, “In our center located within the Informatics Valley; “209 tests and analyses, 39 of which have not been carried out in our country to date, will be carried out with domestic means,” he said.
Minister Kacır and Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat opened the Chemical Technology Center in Gebze, where R&D studies, certification, access to information and other consultancy services, especially the testing and analysis services needed by the chemical industry in export and import activities, can be provided. .
Minister Kacır stated that in line with the vision of the National Technology Move, steps have been taken with determination to move Turkey further in the focus of value-added and high-tech production, and said:
INNOVATION FOCUSED
We support all of our sectors, which play a leading role in domestic and national production, with all the resources we have, and pave the way for sustainable growth. Türkiye, with our organized industrial zones, the number of which we increased from 191 to 364, and the 45 industrial zones we established; It has become a global production base. More than 11 thousand technology startups work with an innovation focus in the 105 technoparks we established.
TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION
Under the leadership of our private sector, more than 1,600 R&D and design centers are developing projects that will accelerate value-added production. We have put into operation the elements that will feed our solid infrastructure that we have built with strong technology development and production capabilities, and we continue to do so.
R&D EXPENDITURES
The increase in our R&D expenditures from 1.2 billion dollars to 16 billion dollars annually and the increase in the number of our R&D personnel from 29 thousand to 291 thousand are indicators of the effectiveness of the support we provide. Together, we will continue to implement projects that will spread the high-technology-oriented growth of our industry to all sectors.
STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE
Thanks to the strong infrastructure we have created, we integrate all our sectors into the growth and development process of our country. Our chemical industry, which is the basic building block in almost every field, from daily life needs to critical sectors, is one of the areas of strategic importance for our country. The innovative, transformative and analytical power of the chemical industry is increasingly increasing its influence in today’s world.
PIONEERING ROLE
Chemical technologies; It is the trigger of future technologies with its pioneering role in areas such as battery, new generation chip production and the production of renewable raw materials that will replace petroleum derivatives. Innovative work in the chemical industry around the world is seen as the key to sustainability and economic transformation.
CRITICAL TECHNOLOGIES
In addition, the forward and backward connections created in the supply chains of the sector, which brings together thousands of different products with industrialists and consumers; It plays a catalytic role in the development of many sectors of the industry. In this direction; We see developing the production and technology competencies of the chemical industry as a strategic priority in order to achieve our goal of full independence in critical technologies and further strengthen our production infrastructure.
3 THOUSAND 68 INCENTIVES
As the Ministry of Industry and Technology, we continue to contribute to our sector with our investment incentives and the support instruments we put into effect. With our investment incentives, we have issued 3 thousand 068 incentive certificates in the last 22 years for investments in the chemical sector. We paved the way for 1.1 trillion liras of qualified investment and 112 thousand jobs.
With our Technology-Focused Industrial Move Program, where we provide end-to-end support from R&D to mass production for value-added projects, we provide support to 24 projects in our chemical industry with a total investment amount of 7.5 billion lira. We contributed 16 billion lira to projects in the field of chemistry with the programs we implemented through TUBITAK, KOSGEB and our Development agencies. In addition to these support mechanisms, we also offer investment areas with world-class infrastructure to our entrepreneurs with the planned industrial areas we have created.
Currently, 7 of our 45 industrial zones have been established for the chemical industry. There are chemical facilities in 136 of our organized industrial zones. We established 4 Chemistry Specialized OIZs to move our industry forward with the clustering approach that we see as critical for the competitiveness of our chemical industry. We continue to support large-scale and integrated petrochemical investments in order to meet our domestic raw material needs, produce high value-added, environmentally friendly and competitive products, and ensure that we are a pioneer in innovative chemical technologies.
INTEGRATED CHEMICAL FACILITY INVESTMENTS
In the coming period, together with you, we will realize the integrated chemical facility investments that our industry and our country need in the 30 million square meter area we are creating in Adana Ceyhan. Simultaneously with the steps that will strengthen the production infrastructure of our industry, we are also implementing projects that will expand the R&D and innovation capability in the field of chemistry.
7.8 BILLION LIRA SUPPORT
We have developed innovative projects with our 191 companies operating within our technoparks and 76 R&D centers, many of which are located within our industrial facilities, with our contribution of 7.8 billion liras to date. Today, we are at the opening of the Chemistry Technology Center, which is of critical importance in the testing and technology development infrastructure of our chemical industry.
In our center located within the Informatics Valley, which we position as the technology base of our country; 209 tests and analyses, 39 of which have not been performed in our country to date, will be performed with domestic facilities. Additionally, our center; It will provide our SMEs with easier access to the human resources and high-cost devices and analyzes they need for their R&D studies. It will also provide consultancy services to our companies in national and international projects.
The Chemistry Incubation Center, which will be located at the Chemistry Technology Center, will support the innovative projects of our entrepreneurs and serve to create new start-ups in our country. It will strengthen us in our journey to create 100 Turcorns and 100 thousand technology startups from our country by 2030.
We will continue to support our chemical industry, which directly benefits our country and makes significant contributions to our industry, technology and innovation ecosystem, with all our means. We will continue to walk shoulder to shoulder with all our investors who share our efforts to develop our country through investment, employment, production, invention and export.
