Rapid developments in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in recent years have led to the evolution of search engines. Traditional search engines provided users with access to information by using specific keywords and indexing algorithms. However, with the integration of artificial intelligence technologies, search engines can now offer more human-like interactions. The combination of chatbot technologies and artificial intelligence makes searches smarter, faster and more user-friendly. One of the latest examples of these changes is the innovative search experience offered by ChatGPT Search. In addition, the new plug-in introduced by Google, one of the important developers, for the Chrome browser makes access to this application even easier.
ChatGPT Search, an innovation from OpenAI’s darling, ChatGPT, treats searches more like conversations, allowing users to search for something specific and then refine that search with follow-up prompts. This approach preserves the original context of the search and allows the user to get more relevant results. Lance Ulanoff from TechRadar, one of the leading technology publications, emphasized that he was impressed by ChatGPT Search and said, “I may never use Google again.”
Of course, every good thing comes with a price. There are currently two ways to access ChatGPT Search. The first of these
You must either be on the original waitlist or pay the ChatGPT Plus subscription, which is $20 per month.
Before launching ChatGPT Search, OpenAI invited users who wanted to try this new feature to sign up for a waiting list. Users who signed up for this list gained access to the feature before it became generally available. Users who are on the original waitlist can use ChatGPT Search for free. However, ChatGPT Plus subscription is required for users who are not on the waiting list.
Another downside is that unless you’re using the app, you’ll need to open ChatGPT in your web browser to access the search option.
Luckily, there’s a way to avoid having to load ChatGPT’s website before searching in Chrome, and that’s to use the Google Chrome extension. Thanks to this plug-in, ChatGPT Search can be used by typing in the address bar of the browser.
Users who downloaded the application add-on for Chrome have currently given it a score of 4.1 out of 5. The common comment of most users is that the application should run faster…
