Google Maps will now show weather disruptions such as uncleaned roads, flooded areas, and areas with low visibility. Public transport users will have access to crowd-sourced delay reports and improved station information, including detailed subway entrance locations and alternative route suggestions.
Electric vehicle owners will be able to send their planned routes directly to Google Maps in their vehicles and get directions including charging points.
Maps also gained a Popular Hours feature that shows detailed traffic forecasts and store crowd information. Finally, Google has added a new “Cheapest” tab to Google Flights to help users find the best deals on air travel.
Most new features announced for Google Maps will be available globally, but some functionality is currently limited to certain vehicle models.
