US President Donald Trump recently held a press conference on the subject with the participation of OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman, SoftBank Chief Executive Masayoshi Son and Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison.
Announcing that OpenAI, Oracle and SoftBank will form a joint venture called Stargate, Trump stated that at least 500 billion dollars will be invested in the artificial intelligence infrastructure of the USA with this joint venture. Trump described the investment in question as “the largest artificial intelligence infrastructure project in history” and noted that it is expected to create employment for more than 100 thousand Americans.
Stating that he will help realize the investment with emergency decisions, Trump said, “They need to produce a lot of electricity, and we will make it possible for them to produce this production very easily in their own facilities.”
“Stargate will build the physical and virtual infrastructure to support the next generation of developments in artificial intelligence, including the construction of massive data centers,” Trump said.
But Elon Musk is skeptical of President Trump’s first major technology investment announcement.
In two messages published at night on his platform called .
To refute Musk’s claims, Altman said in a statement on “I know it’s not a good thing, but I hope that in your new role you will mostly put America first,” he said.
Musk’s statement, who was among Trump’s closest people during the last election process and will head the unit created to plan the country’s budget, is one of the first differences he had with the Trump administration.
According to the New York Times, Stargate currently has 100 billion dollars. SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle and MGX, an investment group focused on artificial intelligence in the United Arab Emirates, provided the financing.
It is said that the main source of Musk’s outburst is his tension with OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman. Musk, who helped found the company, sued OpenAI and Altman for antitrust violations. Musk had launched a competitor called xAI in 2023, after the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The startup recently raised $6 billion in funding.
There was no statement from Trump or Musk on the subject.
