iCloud backup will require iOS 9 or newer
While iCloud backups will no longer be available, Apple clarified that this change will not affect apps or data on devices currently running iOS 8 or earlier, nor will it affect local backups created through iTunes, the Apple Devices app for Windows, or macOS.
From 18 December 2024 Device backups will require iOS 9 or later. Apple says this change with minimal software requirements He says it was done to ensure better compatibility.
iPhones that can receive the iOS 9 update
The last update for the iPhone 4S model was iOS 9. iPhone models that received the iOS 10 update along with iOS 9 are:
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone SE

- iPhone 5C
