In the statement made on the social media account of the Ministry of Commerce Advertising Boardstated that it imposed fines of over 277 million liras in 2024 due to deceptive advertising or unfair commercial practices. It was determined that 189 of the 209 files discussed at the meeting were against the legislation. Regarding the advertisement and commercial practices in question, a total of 1 file was suspended with a precautionary suspension decision and 188 files were suspended from advertising. 29 million 136 thousand 384 lira administrative fine was implemented. In addition, it was decided to apply access blocking administrative measures to 10 of the files in order to prevent consumer grievances.

It was also found that although environmentally friendly interest rates or fee waivers are attractively presented in advertisements, in practice these products do not differ from standard loans. It was also emphasized that a false impression was created that the impact of environmental actions is not as great as it actually is.

As a result of the meeting, it was decided to impose “advertising suspension penalties” on 10 banks due to their practices of environmentally friendly products that contradict the promises made in the advertisements.
