Russian cyber security company Kaspersky announced that it has implemented an application that will provide a solution to those who are concerned about being monitored in mobile applications.
According to the statement made by the company, according to the State of Stalkerware report, 40 percent of people surveyed worldwide stated that they suspected that they were being followed or spied on.
As the company remains committed to protecting users from digital tracking, it recently updated its Android mobile portfolio with a new feature that is also included in the free version.
The feature offers a range of functions that provide comprehensive protection against both online and offline tracking.
It not only detects tracking software that harassers have installed to monitor their victims, but also notifies users about hidden Bluetooth devices, including wireless tags that can be used to track the movements and location of a person or object.
My feature functions include “stalkerware scanner that detects spy apps and software that may be secretly installed on a person’s smartphone and access their messages, emails, photos, contacts, phone call history and geolocation”, “device scanner that detects Bluetooth trackers within a 100-meter radius” “, “risk assessment” and “permit control”.
The company introduced spyware protection in “Kaspersky for Android” in 2019. That same year, the company founded the Coalition Against Stalkerware, an initiative that brings together private information technology (IT) companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), research institutions, and law enforcement to combat unauthorized software and raise awareness of technology-facilitated exploitation.
The Coalition combats cyberstalking in collaboration with global law enforcement and provides critical support to victims of online harassment.
Originally starting with 10 stakeholders, the coalition now includes more than 40 stakeholders working together to share their expertise and combat the problem of online violence.
The coalition’s seven-language website offers guidance and assistance to victims who suspect an abuser may have installed tracking software on their device.
Kaspersky Consumer Products Marketing Vice President Marina Titova, whose views were included in the statement, stated that they warned users about third-party tracking.
Noting that as digital violence evolves, especially as new tracking technologies emerge, users need more protection, Titova said, “We constantly improve our products with a user-oriented approach and have expanded the functions of our mobile application to protect users from digital tracking, including offline formats that can be very dangerous. “In addition, our team continues to work on further improvements to the functionality of our mobile solutions, which will be available next year, for a better user experience and protection of users’ digital lives.” he said.
