Satellite powered messagingis a feature integrated into Android, but it requires certain hardware to work. The Galaxy S25 series has the necessary hardware and software to send and receive messages directly via satellites. This feature can be extremely useful in certain emergencies when there is no cellular network nearby and can even be lifesaving in times of natural disasters.
Interestingly, Samsung did not draw any attention to this feature in the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 keynote speech. The S25 series comes with the Snapdragon processor in all countries, there is no obstacle, but the feature must also receive approval from the government to be used. Perhaps the company has never mentioned the feature because it has not completed the work yet.
As a reminder, Snapdragon Satellite was also part of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip but no smartphone brand used this feature because Android did not natively support this feature at that time. Android 15 natively supports satellite-based messaging. AppleAlthough it is not available in Turkey, it offers a similar feature on iPhones since the iPhone 14 model.
Qualcomm worked with Samsung to implement ProScaler into the chip, which can deliver a 40% improvement in display display scaling quality. It also placed Samsung’s mobile Digital Natural Display engine (mDNIe) into the ISP display signal processor (DSP) of this Snapdragon chip to improve display efficiency. The companies also worked together to apply Samsung’s image processing technologies to the Snapdragon chip’s ISP for improved image and video capture.
The powerful NPU inside Snapdragon 8 Elite For Galaxy enables many Galaxy AI features to run natively on the device. You can look at the Galaxy AI features introduced with the Galaxy S25 series, some of which will also come to older models, here:
