Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, announced on Sunday, the same day TikTok was legally banned in the US, that Instagram will soon introduce a new video editing software called Edits. Mosseri announced Instagram Edits on the same day that CapCut, a mobile video editing program owned by ByteDance, was banned in the USA along with TikTok.

What will Instagram Edits offer?

Instagram Edits will allow users to create and edit videos, share videos on Instagram, and track Instagram Reels statistics. Edits will allow creating videos of up to 10 minutes and 1080p resolution. The platform will also offer AI animation, subtitles with generative AI support, and layers such as text, audio and sound effects, filters, and stickers.

Instagram Edits application is available for free pre-download on the Apple App Store. Although Mosseri says that the application will be available in February, it will be available on March 13, 2025, according to the App Store page.
