Solar panels are always thought to be mounted only on the roof. In fact, building-integrated (BIPV) panels can also be used on the side surfaces of the building. However, even if the systems used so far produced electricity, they were not very attractive. For this reason, it was not preferred by architects. A Swiss PV integration company Felix & Co. Windgate with from Austria Ertex Solar They managed to create a wonderful look by working together with the company. In this way, their brand image was created while electricity costs were reduced, meaning they killed two birds with one stone.

These angled, flake-shaped blue PV panels cover the sides of the top, totaling 868 m2. This addition was actually created through a renovation project. The company, which planned to raise the building belonging to the packaging department, removed the PV panels on the roof before raising this part by 12 meters. Afterwards, he dressed the south, west and east faces with these PV panels and added the previous PV panels to the roof.

Previously, only 48 MWh of annual production was achieved from the roof, but now an additional 67 MWh has been added and 115 MWs has risen to the level. In this way, 470 MWs of electricity consumed by the facility %24.5’i It has become borne by the sun.

Although the panels on the side surface produce less than half of the PV panels on the roof, either due to aesthetic concerns or because the angle is not facing the sun, the vertical panels in winter have increased self-consumption thanks to the sun not rising too much.
