At nearly 100 meters high, New Glenn has remained one of Blue Origin’s top priorities for more than a decade. New Glenn will be used to meet demand for satellite constellation launches and capture market share from SpaceX’s workhorse, Falcon 9.
After a successful first launch, New Glenn Amazon’s Kuiper named broadband internet can start sending a constellation of satellites into space. This is SpaceX Direct competition with the Starlink network and will accelerate the competition in space on another front.
Blue OriginFor years, it has launched and landed at the edge of the Earth’s atmosphere with its smaller and reusable New Shepard rocket. However, in the 25 years since the company was founded, It has not sent any satellites into orbit.. This may change this week, but there are no guarantees when it comes to rockets.
Compared to SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, New Glenn is approximately twice as powerful and twice as large in satellite carrying capacity. However, Blue Origin has not yet announced the rocket’s launch prices. On the other hand, the price of Falcon 9 starts around 62 million dollars. Additionally, New Glenn will not be as powerful as the next generation Starship rocket developed by SpaceX. Starship is critical to expanding the orbital footprint of Musk’s Starlink network, and its next test flight on the 13th aims to put dysfunctional satellite models into orbit.
However, Blue Origin has multiple launch agreements with Eutelsat’s OneWeb, Canada’s Telesat and satellite-to-cellular device company AST SpaceMobile. Currently, the Western world has become dependent on SpaceX. So a successful launch is crucial to New Glenn’s future.
