This is how Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang defends the $ 2,000 price tag of the RTX 5090 in a question and answer event he attended: “When someone wants to have the best, he chooses only the best.”
Huang acknowledged that the RTX 5090 represents a radical price jump across Nvidia’s lineup. The RTX 5080, a lower model in the series, sells for only $ 1,000; that’s half the price of the flagship model. Huang implied that this was a conscious strategy.: “$2,000 is not a small amount of money, it is a very high value. However many customers want absolutely the best.”
RTX 5090 and its siblings feature artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled technologies and DLSS 4 Thanks to this, it doubles their performance. Especially DLSS 4 draws attention with its multi-frame generation ability. Thanks to this technology, the GPU only physically processes one out of every four frames; the remaining frames are created by artificial intelligence.
Huang argued that these innovations make products like the RTX 5090 a performance giant. However, in the CEO’s statements about price segmentation, it was pointed out that more affordable models will also come. Nvidia, yet RTX 5060 and did not announce lower models.
Although the price of the RTX 5090 has created the agenda, Nvidia appears to be following an aggressive strategy in more affordable models. The RTX 5080 is available for $1,000, the same price as the previous generation’s RTX 4080 Super model. In addition, RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 models, $50 cheaper than previous generation counterparts and have a price tag of $750 and $550 respectively.
These prices are reasonable considering that Nvidia says its new graphics card series offers twice the performance of the previous generation. However, this performance increase is largely due to Nvidia’s new DLSS 4 due to technology.
