According to Sharghdaily news site, Moral provided information about the gradual lifting of the social media ban imposed in the country.
Stating that 10 conditions were determined by the Supreme Council of Social Media for unblocking, Ahlaki stated that one of these conditions is that the relevant units in Iran can access the shares of the users, while another condition is that these platforms open offices in Iran.
Pointing out that the access process started after WhatsApp and Google Play accepted the 10 conditions in question, Ahlaki noted that other foreign social media platforms could also be included in the same process if they accepted the said conditions.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Sattar Hashimi announced yesterday that the ban on WhatsApp and Google Play platforms in the country has been lifted.
Iran also banned Telegram on the grounds that it was organized in social media groups and carried out activities against the state.
As the demonstrations, which started after Mahsa Emini was detained and died in police custody in September 2022 on the grounds that she did not comply with the headscarf rules, grew, social media platforms such as WhatsApp, X, Instagram and the Google Play platform, where VPN programs were downloaded, were banned in the country.
In particular, the ban on Google Play was highly criticized by Iranian software developers, and it was stated that the access ban caused the share of the software world to decrease.
With the ban on messaging programs, Iranian authorities called for the use of domestic software. Iranians, on the other hand, were not keen on using domestic software, claiming that there were many security problems.
