I want to start with the graphics and quickly move on to the gameplay part. The Call of Duty series is now a standard series in this regard. It looks exactly how a new generation game should look that year. Since it is not a game that gets lost in details and pays attention to details, the graphics are the same. While the designs, atmosphere, and especially the character animations and faces seem magnificent from the outside, when you get into the details of the places, you feel a little sad. But it is impossible to see those points in the game anyway, so I can say that it has a visual quality that is quite sufficient or even above sufficient. I generally did not experience any performance problems on my computer where I used RTX 3080 at the highest settings and 2K resolution. Although there was a frame drop that I did not fully understand, especially in the helicopter sections, it was resolved very quickly. I’ve been playing every Call of Duty game from day one for about 4 years, and I’ve never had any problems with performance.
Now let’s get to the gameplay part. I don’t know about you, but what I expect from Call of Duty is pure combat action. Since the new games are now more about operations, I want to go secret when necessary, but I want to finish everything with my gun or have lots of action parts and feel like John Wick. I have always been interested in a game with a linear structure, where your only concern is to kill the enemy in front of you and other than that, you just read the dialogue. Especially today, the fact that every game is open world has unfortunately taken this genre away from us. Although the Call of Duty series is one of the rare productions that continues in this line in recent years, unfortunately, it adds very ridiculous sections in the name of diversity in its latest games. This game also has these sections. For example, in one of the episodes, we stay with our team in a region and do both side missions and main missions while traveling around like an open world. The transition between locations is also full of clumsiness, such as poor quality driving mechanics, nothing in the environment reacting to the vehicle, as if it was an independent studio and did not pay attention to the details. Meaningless stealth missions where we don’t even have a gun, the episode that we can call as a horror episode, although it somehow fits the theme, I wonder what it’s doing in this game, and many more. Now you may say, “Since you criticize it so much, the game is bad.”. No, I think the game is still good despite everything. Because it is still one of the games that offers the best use of weapons, and despite these meaningless missions, you can still have fun in the game. Even if you don’t like the story part, you can have fun moments in the online part.
The biggest part of the game that is not fun, or rather does not deliver what it adds, is the story. When I played the first games of Black Ops, I was incredibly amazed and enjoyed following them. Especially having striking characters made it even more enjoyable. Unfortunately, although there are a few strong characters in this game, the course of events is both very obvious and it does not have a striking story. After a while, this means “okay, let’s move on and tighten this place a little bit.” it keeps saying.
The online part is as we know. It has a slightly faster-paced gameplay than its biggest rival, where you enter and exit the match very quickly. But it really does this job very well. Every year, this season reminds me again and again why I love playing games so much. Especially with the zombie mode, which is my favorite mode, the game really becomes much more enjoyable. Above all else, having the game on Game Pass is a big plus. Therefore, if you have a Game Pass membership, definitely play the game. Even if you do not have a Game Pass membership, buy a membership and play it. I hope that in the next game they will offer us a straight, linear game without trying to offer extra things.
