This problem is eliminated with the new transcription feature. It also solves the problem for users who hate voicemails.

In its announcement, WhatsApp stated that voice message transcripts are created directly on the device, so No one can access your messages, including WhatsApp. states. The feature will be disabled by default when it launches. The feature can be turned on from the Chats section in WhatsApp settings.
