5 K-Dramas To Watch If You Liked “Longing For You”

The list is divided into TWO PARTS, the confirmed dramas based on webtoon for 2023 (this one) and the webtoons announced to be adapted in dramas sometime soon but with no confirmation of broadcast.

1. “Wedding Impossible”/ Schedule status: 2023

The romance webtoon “Wedding Impossible” (in Korean “웨딩 임파서블”) by Lee Chung and Song JungWon is announced to be adapted into a drama. It is a romance with conflicted desires between a gay chaebol heir who asks an unknown actress to marry and the chaebol’s ambitious brother.

Jun JongSeo and Moon SangMin are in talks for the drama that would air in 2023.

2. “Duty After School” / Schedule status: March 31, 2023

Studio Dragon has adapted the thriller webtoon “Duty After School” (in Korean “방과 후 전쟁활동”, literal translation “After School War Activities”) by Ha IlKwon into a web drama. It tells the story of students of the country about to pass the CSAT who have been conscripted to fight an unidentified object for extra points.

PD Sung YongIl (“Class of Lies”) and writer Lee NamKyu (“The Light In Your Eyes”) are in charge of the production of the webdrama. Shin HyunSoo, Hwang SeIn, Ahn DoKyu, Kim SuGyeom, Kwon EunBin, and more are cast. It is a TVING original.

3. “Moving” / Schedule status: August 9, 2023

The supernatural webtoon “Moving” (in Korean “무빙”) by Kang Full is adapted into a drama. A supernatural story about high school students and their parents who keep secrets that others don’t know.

The director Mo WanIl (“Misty” and “The World of the Married”) is in charge of the production of the drama. Zo InSung, Han HyoJoo and Cha TaeHyun are cast in this Disney+ drama.

4. “Oh ManSang and Prejudice” / Schedule status: TBA

The webtoon “Oh ManSang and Prejudice” (in Korean “오만상과 편견”) by WanKyeol is announced to be adapted into a drama. It tells the story of a man and woman who always encounters misunderstanding and prejudice.

The drama will air on Channel A. Ji HyunWoo and Song HaYoon received the cast offer back in 2020. Since then, there has been no update.

5. “Homework For The Heart” / Schedule status: TBA

“Homework For The Heart” (in Korean “마음의 숙제”) will be adapted into a drama. It tells the story of LeeKyung, who moved to LeeWonDong, a neighborhood where everyone avoids until she meets again her first love HoSeon who has become a vampire after disappearing 13 years ago.

Byun YoHan‘s agency denied the reports of him receiving a casting offer. The drama will air on JTBC and PD Lee DongYoon (“She Would Never Know”, and more) is in charge of the production.

6. “Bloodhounds” / Schedule status: June 9, 2023

The thriller webtoon “Hunting Dogs” (in Korean “사냥개들”) by JungChan was adapted into the drama “Bloodhounds.” It tells the story of three men who got entangled with each other due to debt and their attempt to get out of it.

It will be a Netflix Original drama with 8 episodes. Director Kim JuHwan (movies “Midnight Runners”, “The Divine Fury”) is in charge of the adaptation. Woo DoHwan, Lee SangYi, Park SungWoong, and Jung DaEun are cast.

7. “History of Losers” / Schedule status: TBA

The webtoon “History of Losers” (in Korean “찌질의 역사”) by Kim Poong and Sim YoonSoo is announced to be adapted into a drama. It tells the story of 20 years old boys who evolve into men. It tells the pathetic stories of them never getting mature.

Cho ByeongKyu, Song HaYoon and RyeoUn are in talks.

8. “Black Knight” / Schedule status: May 12, 2023

The webtoon “Delivery Knight” (in Korean “택배기사”) by Lee YungYun was adapted into the Netflix drama “Black Knight”. The story takes place in a dystopian future where the air pollution has become so serious that people only live out of delivery.

Kim WooBin, Esom, and Kang YouSeok are cast for the drama.

9. “Chicken Nugget” / Schedule status: 2023

The science fiction thriller webtoon “Dak Gang Jeong” (in Korean “닭강정”) by Park JiDok was announced to be adapted into a drama “Chicken Nugget”. The webtoon tells the strange story of how a beautiful young girl, Choi MinAh, is turned into fried chicken because she happens to enter a mysterious machine.

Director Lee ByungHun (“Melo Is My Nature”, “Extreme Job” and more) is in charge of the said production. Ahn JaeHong, Ryu SeungRyong, and Kim YouJung are cast for the drama.

10. “Aquaman” / Schedule status: TBA

The webtoon “Aquaman” (in Korean “아쿠아맨”) by Mcqueenstudio will be adapted into a drama. It depicts the love and friendship of young people beyond gender.

It is planned by Kakao Entertainment. Jung WooJin, PENTAGON‘s HongSeok, Lee SoHee, and Shin SoHyun are the lead actors.

11. “Mask Girl” / Schedule status: August 18, 2023

The webtoon “Mask Girl” (in Korean “마스크걸”) by MaeMi and HuiSe is adapted into a Netflix drama. It tells the story of Kim MoMi who has a great body but an unattractive face. She dreamed of becoming a celebrity, but she gave up because of her face. She lives as an office worker during the day and is the ‘BJ Mask Girl” at night.

Ahn JaeHong, Ko HyunJung, NaNa, and Yeom HyeRan are the lead actors of this Netflix drama.

12. “See You in My 19th Life” / Schedule status: June 17, 2023

The romance webtoon “See You in My 19th Life” (in Korean “이번 생도 잘 부탁해”, “Please Take Care Of Me In This Life as Well”) by Lee Hey is adapted into a drama. It tells the reckless romance of a woman who remembers her past lives.

Shin HaeSun and Ahn BoHyun are cast for this 2023 drama.

13. “Money Game” / Schedule status: TBA

The webtoon “Money Game” and “Pie Game” (the sequel to “Money Game”) (in Korean “파이게임”) by Bae JinSoo was announced to be adapted into an OTT drama. It tells the story of 8 people, who participate in a TV reality show where eight participants are isolated and left to survive with a shared amount of 44.8 billion KRW. They will win the money they manage to save together.

Chun WooHee, Ryu JunYeol, Park JeongMin, Park HaeJoon, Bae SungWoo, and more are cast.

14. “Daily Dose of Sunshine” / Schedule status: November 2023

The webtoon “Morning Comes To The Mental Ward” or “Nurse Sheena’s Asylum Diary” (in Korean ” 정신병동에도 아침이 와요”) by Lee RaHa is to be adapted into the drama “Daily Dose of Sunshine”. It tells the story of a nurse working in a mental ward.

Park BoYoung, Yeon WooJin, Lee JungEun, Jang DongYoon, and more are cast for this Netflix drama.

15. “Divorce Attorney Shin”/ Schedule status: March 4, 2023

The webtoon “Divorce Attorney Shin” (in Korean “신성한 이혼”) by Kang TaeKyung was adapted into a JTBC drama. It tells the story of a lawyer specializing in divorce.

Jo SeungWoo and Han HyeJin are cast. The drama started on March 4 on JTBC.

16. “The Borrowed Body” / Schedule status: TBA

The teen romance webtoon named “Borrowed Body” (in Korean “빌린 몸”) by Park SeKye is announced to be adapted into a drama. The story is set in during the first year of high school. Students Sang Yoo, DaRim, and HoYoung are all the three lead characters. We start off with Sang Yoo who is gloomy due to a scandalous rumor and DaRim is a top student, not to mention, also an athlete. Our last lead HoYoung is DaRim’s crush.

Studio 329 is in charge of the adaptation. Nam YoonSu, RyeoUn, and Park HaeEun are cast.

17. “Doona!” / Schedule status: October 20, 2023

The popular romance webtoon “The Girl Downstairs” (in Korean “이두나!”) by Songah Min is getting an adaptation. It is a light-hearted yet meaningful webtoon about two young people who cross paths and change each other’s lives forever.

Suzy and Yang SeJong are the leads of this Netflix Original Series.

18. “Vampire Chef” / Schedule status: TBA

The webtoon “Vampire Chef” (in Korean “뱀파이어 셰프”) by SeoYun and Kim MinHye will be adapted into a drama. It tells the blood purification project of the chef and owner of a restaurant named Hong KiJoon.

Cho YiHyun is in talks to be the childhood friend of Hong KiJoon.

19. “Things Have Fallen Off” / Schedule status: TBA

The short webtoon “Things Have Fallen Off” (in Korean “떨어져 나간 것”) by TaRi will be adapted in a drama. It tells the story of a woman who looks back on her memories with her ex-boyfriend. It would be the Korean version of the movie “About Time”.

20. “Sing My Crush” / Schedule status: August 2, 2023

The BL webtoon “Follow the Wind” (in Korean “따라바람”) by Geomdong and JUSTOON will be adapted in a drama. It is a music romance story about the dreams of the band “Follow the Wind”, with its vocals “Wind” and the band’s manager HanTae.

Jang DoYoon and Son HyeonWu are cast in this BL drama.

21. “The Year We Turned 29” / Schedule status: TBA

The youth romance comedy webtoon ‘The Year We Turned 29″ (in Korean “아홉수 우리들”) written by Soo BakYang is announced to be adapted into a drama. It tells the story of three friends who are 29 years old and who are going through this harsh year ending with a “9”.

El-rise who has produced the drama “When the Devil Calls Your Name” is in charge. Kim HyeYoon is in talks.

22. “Vigilante” / Schedule status: November 2023

The webtoon “Vigilante” (in Korean “비질란테”) by CRG and Kim KyuSam was announced to be adapted into a movie and a Disney+ drama. In a world where the law is flawed, the lead character will try to make it perfect.

StudioN is in charge. Nam JooHyuk, Lee JunHyuk and Cho SeungWoo are cast.

23. “The Witch” / Schedule status: TBA

The webtoon “The Witch” (in Korean “마녀”) by Kang Full was announced to be adapted into a drama. It tells the story of a man who loves a woman he calls a “witch”.

GOT7’s JinYoung and Roh JeongEui are in talks.

24. “Joseon Lawyer” / Schedule Status: March 31, 2023

The webtoon “Joseon Lawyer” (in Korean “조선변호사”) by Sim Gun and Writer Jeong was adapted into a drama. It is a refreshing and heartwarming story about Kang HanSu, a lawyer who plans lawsuits and even takes advantages of the feelings of wronged victims. Due to unintended events, he becomes revered as the people’s “solver” and hero, which causes him to really grow into a just lawyer.

Woo DoHwan and WJSN’s BoNa are cast for this drama starting on March 31st on MBC.

25. “A Shoulder to Cry On” / Schedule status: March 15, 2023

The BL webtoon “A Shoulder to Cry On” (in Korean “소년을위로해줘”) by DongMul was adapted into a drama. Here is the summary: due to TaeHyun’s joke, DaYeol gets falsely accused of scandalously attacking him. Among the archers, DaYeol’s athletic path is in danger. DaYeol asks TaeHyun to explain the truth; however, he discovers that he is getting swayed by him.

OMEGA X’s JaeHan and YeChan are cast for the drama. The drama was planned to air in 2022 but the new airing date is March 15th.

26. “The Murder and the Toy” / Schedule Status: TBA

The thriller webtoon “The Murder and the Toy” also called “Murder DIEary” (in Korean “살인자난감”) by Kkomabi and Nomabi is announced to be adapted into a Netflix drama. It tells the story of a man who became a murderer after an accident and a detective chasing him.

Choi WooShik and Son SukKu are cast for this Netflix original drama.

27. “Death’s Game” / Schedule Status: TBA

The webtoon “Death’s Game” (in Korean: “이제 곧 죽습니다”) by Lee WonSik and Ggulchan will be adapted into a drama. The story revolves around YiJae Choi, a 31-year old job seeker who couldn’t find a job for 5 years after graduating from college. His ex-girlfriend, who he dated for 6 years, will be marrying another man 3 months after breaking up with him. YiJae commits suicide by jumping off a building, and experiences a reincarnation.

28. “The Moon That Rises in the Day” / Schedule status: TBA

The webtoon “The Moon That Rises in the Day” (in Korean “낮에 뜨는 달”) has been announced to be adapted in a drama back in 2018 but still not the production schedule is not confirmed. It is a story about a man whose time has stopped and a woman who is passing through past and present. It is not a simple love story but a ‘romance thriller’.

Kim YoungDae and Pyo YeJin are cast for drama.

29. “Homeland and Nationality” / Schedule Status: TBA

The webtoon “Homeland and Nationality” (in Korean “조국과 민족”) by Kang TaeJin was announced to be produced into a Netflix drama. The story revolves around DoHoon Park, an intelligence agent who is not afraid to resort to violence and torture for the way of his country, and how he was recruited by a South Korean agent with who he makes a secret deal, which he shouldn’t have done.

Yoo JaeMyung is in talks for casting. The script was reported to be written by “Narco-Saints” scriptwriter Kwon SungHwi, and it will be directed by Baek SeungHwan.

30. “HeeSu In Class 2” / Schedule Status: TBA

The webtoon “HeeSu In Class 2” (in Korean “2반 이희수”) by Lily was announced to be produced into a web drama. The story is about the youthful romance of HeeSu, an ordinary 18-year old boy, and his neighbor who has a secret.

31. “A Good Day To Be a Dog” / Schedule status: October 11, 2023

The romance fantasy webtoon “A Good Day To Be a Dog” also called “Lovely Again Today” (in Korean “오늘도 사랑스럽개”) is to be adapted into a drama. It tells the story of a woman who has been cursed to change into a dog every night and a guy who is afraid of dogs. She tries to remove the curse.

The webtoon “Deal” (in Korean “거래”) by WooNam20 is announced to be adapted into a Wavve drama. It tells the story of three high school alumni who meet for the first time in a while and drink a lot. They put one of them to sleep because he was too drunk but they received a phone call saying that he was kidnaped. Will the two of them get him back safely?

The webtoon “Jung Nyeon” (in Korean: “정년이”), written by Seo Ire and illustrated by NaMon, was announced to be produced into a drama. The story revolves around JungNyeon, a girl from Mokpo, who dreams of becoming part of the Gukgeuk Troupe (a play with women as actresses).

The BL webtoon “Unintentional Love Story” (in Korean “비의도적 연애담”) by PB was adapted into a web drama. It is a romance that tells the story of a relationship that starts with a lie but eventually blossoms into real love.

Cha SeoWon and B1A4’s GongChan are cast for this BL drama to air on March 17, 2023.

35. “Haesi’s Shinru” / Schedule status: TBA

The webtoon “Haesi’s Shinru” (in Korean: “해시의 신루”), written by MyeongRan and Yoon LeeSu and illustrated by INUS, was announced to be produced into a drama. In an extra space of the Joseon Palace, a burning triangle romance takes place between a mysterious woman and the monarchs of Korea and China.

Kim SeonHo received the casting offer but he later turned down the offer.

36. “The Killing Vote” / Schedule status: August 10, 2023

The webtoon “National Death Penalty Vote” (in Korean: “국민사형투표”), written by Eom SeYoon and illustrated by Jeong LeePoom, was announced to be produced into a drama. The story is about a so-called “devastation” that judges the “innocent demons” in Korea, causing friction with other figures such as the police.

The webtoon “Delightful Outcast” (in Korean: “유쾌한 왕따”), written by Kim SoongRyong, was announced to be produced into a drama. It tells the story of the outcast DongHyeon. On the day of his 15th birthday, he meets SooHyeon, a transferred student and something starts shaking in him.

The BL webtoon “Love Tractor” (in Korean “트랙터는 사랑을 싣고”) by AngryMonster and HmmYongYong was adapted into a drama. It is a romance story where we meet SeonYool, a man from the city who comes to the countryside for a while and meets YeChan, a country guy who loves the countryside so much.

The drama will be released in 2023 and to be produced by the same production of “Semantic Error”. Han SeungHo is part of the casting.

The webtoon “The Heavenly Idol” (in Korean “성스러운 아이돌”) by Studio M and illustrated by AkSa was adapted into a drama. It is a fantasy comedic romance story about the entertainment industry where one day, a High Priest of a suddenly finds himself in the body of an idol.

The webtoon “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” (literal translation, in Korean “열녀 박씨 계약 결혼뎐”) by Kim NeoWool and B is the story about historical drama romance. The main character Park YeonWoo, who lived in the Joseon Dynasty, suddenly falls to Korea in the 21st century after her husband dies. When she came to her senses, dead husband was in front of her.

The webtoon “Nam Nam” (in Korean “남남“) by Jung YoungRong is adapted into a drama. It is a family story about a strange mother and a cool daughter living together and show various happenings that happen during their daily life. It drew attention by recording more than 25 million views.

The webtoon “Fantasy Sonata” (in Korean “환상연가”) by Ban JiWoon was announced to be adapted into a drama. This webtoon is the story is about secret struggle, assassination, and love. YeonWol, the only survivor of the Yeon family who was exterminated as a traitor takes place as a guest while hiding her identity to revenge against the king.

The webtoon “Shop Of The Lamp” (in Korean “조명가게”) by Kang Full was announced to be adapted into a drama. This webtoon is a horror and thriller genre, depicting strange things happening there against the backdrop of a dark, remote lighting shop away from the village. Strangers visit the lighting shop in a deserted place every day. Those who keep hovering around the store as if trying to say something eventually turn around without leaving any words.

The webtoon “Pyramid Game” (in Korean “피라미드 게임”) by Dalgonyak was announced to be adapted into a drama. The webtoon deals with subtle bullying in school life. Students cast their votes once a month in a popularity poll that creates a ranking system determining the school’s social hierarchy. SuJi, a new transfer student, aims to climb the pyramid and rise to the top from the bottom, potentially changing the game’s outcome.

48. “Cashero”/ Schedule Status: TBA

The webtoon “Cashero” (캐셔로) by teeam befar was announced to be turned to a webdrama. The drama is said to be produced by Netflix. Its story revolves around the story of ordinary superheroes who protect the daily lives of other ordinary people.

2PM’s JunHo is reported to be reviewing his offer to appear in the drama.

The webtoon “Study Group” (in Korean “스터디그룹”), which is part of YLAB’s Blue String Universe, written by Shin HyungUk and illustrated by Yoo SeungYeon, is being produced into a drama by TVING. It is a high school action drama which revolves around the strongest boy who dreams of being a top student. Yun GaMin, a high school student, longs to excel in his studies, but sadly, his talent lies solely in fighting. At the lackluster Yusung Technical High School, he decides to form a study group. This begins their (real) blood-splattering tale of their entrance exam journey.

Hwang MinHyun and Han JiEun are the lead actors of the drama.

50. “Perfect Family” / Schedule Status: TBA

The webtoon “Perfect Family” (in Korean “완벽한 가족”) by N.B & JUNE will be adapted into a drama. It is a psychological thriller about a young schoolgirl who shocks everyone by admitting she murdered a classmate named Park KyungHo. What’s even more unsettling is how her mother reacts. Instead of being horrified, her main concern is upholding the façade of a flawless family. She’ll go to great lengths to preserve that image.

Park JuHyun and Yoon SeAh are confirmed to be casted into the drama.

51. “Treat Me Carelessly” / Schedule Status: TBA

The webtoon “Treat Me Carelessly” (in Korean “함부로 대해줘) by SunWoo will be adapted in to a drama. The drama revolves around Shin YunBok, a student from Seongsan village, whose beliefs are firmly grounded in Confucianism and his interactions with Kim HongDo, his art mentor, known for a brash and candid disposition.

INFINITE’s L (Kim MyungSoo) and Lee YouYoung are in talks for the drama casting.

52. “One: Highschool Heroes” / Schedule Status: TBA

The webtoon “ONE” (in Korean “원”) by Lee EunJin is adapted into the drama “One: Highschool Heroes.” It tells the story of the transformation of EuiGyeom (the protagonist) who is being excessively pressured by his father to excel in academics for some reason.

Lee JungHa is confirmed to be casted into the drama.

53. “Cinderella at 2AM” / Schedule status: TBA

The webtoon “Cinderella at 2AM” (in Korean “새벽 두 시의 신데렐라”) by Aigome will be produced into a drama. The story revolves around Ha YoonSeo, who, for the past three years, has been in a relationship with Seo JooWon. However, it’s been two months since she found out that JooWon is the youngest son of a conglomerate. Hearing from JooWon’s mother that she should break up with her son, Ha YoonSeo accepts money as compensation. Despite her deliberate attempts to create distance and end the relationship, JooWon remains persistent and continues his efforts to change YoonSeo’s heart.

Shin HyunBeen and Moon SangMin are in talks for the drama casting.

The webtoon “Flowers That Bloom At Night” (in Korean “밤에 피는 꽃”) by Toli, Jeongro, Yuna, and Bess. It is a comedic historical drama that follows the a 15-year widow lives a double life, helping people at night while wearing a mask.

Lee Hanee and Lee JongWon are part of the casting of the drama.

55. “S Line”/  Schedule status: TBA

The webtoon “S-Line” (in Korean S라인) by NOMABI is confirmed to be produced into a drama. The drama is a fantasy thriller that portrays various social scenarios that unfold when one day a visible “red line” appears above a person’s head, connecting them to someone they had a physical relationship with, revealing something so private to everyone. This affects the course of the society, especially with the revelations come with consequences.

Lee SooHyuk, OH MY GIRL’s Arin, and Lee DaHee are confirmed to be casted into drama.

Season 2

56. “Taxi Driver 2” /  Schedule status: February 17, 2023

The webtoon “Deluxe Taxi” (in Korean “모범택시”) (official English title “Red Cage”) by Carlos and KeuKeu JaeJin was adapted into the drama “Taxi Driver” in 2021. SBS will release a season 2 of the drama. It tells the story of a special taxi company Rainbow Transportation and their deluxe taxi driver Kim DoGi’s complete acts of revenge on behalf of unfair victims.

Lee JeHoon, Esom, and Pyo YeJin are the lead actors of the season 1, but Esom is not longer acting in the season 2. And it was released on February 17, 2023.

57. “D.P. 2” /  Schedule status: July 28, 2023

The webtoon “D.P Dog Day” (In Korean “D.P 개의 날”) by Kim BoTong was adapted into the Netflix Drama “D.P.” on Netflix in 2021, and it season 2 is scheduled to be released this year. It is a story about JoonHo and HyoYeol, two members of the D.P. Arrest Team in charge of capturing army deserters, and the stories they learn about the deserters along the way.

Jung HaeIn, Koo KyoHwan, Son SukKu and more are cast in this season 2.

58. “Sweet Home 2 & 3” /  Schedule status: December 2023

In 2020, Netflix released the season 1 of “Sweet Home” based on the popular thriller horror webtoon “Sweet Home” (in Korean “스위트홈”) by Carnby Kim and YoungChan Hwang. A season 2 and 3 is on its way. It tells the story of a loner high school student who lost his family and the bizarre and shocking things that happened to him in his new flat.

Song Kang, Lee SiYoung, Go MinSi and Park GyuYoung are confirmed.

59. “The Uncanny Counter 2” / Schedule Status: July 29, 2023

The fantasy and thriller webtoon “Amazing Rumor” (in Korean “경이로운 소문”) by JangYi was adapted into the drama named “The Uncanny Counter” in 2020, and its season 2 is set to be broadcast this year. It tells the story of evil spirits of the afterlives who come down to earth to have eternal life and the counters that are capturing them.

Kim SeJeong, Cho ByeongKyu, Yu JunSang, and Yeom HyeRan are the lead actors. The drama on broadcast by tvN, and is now available on Netflix.
