While preparations continue for the social media regulation that is expected to be implemented in the coming days to protect children from negative content in the digital environment, the Ministry of Family and Social Services has accelerated its efforts to raise the awareness of children, families and society against digital risks.
The Ministry, which works with various stakeholders, especially public institutions, universities and NGOs, has increased its training against the risks in digital content for its private nursery, day care center, children’s club employees and children’s families.
In this context, “media concept”, “new media tools”, “children and digital media”, “being a parent in the digital age”, “opportunities and risks of information technologies for children”, “issues that families should pay attention to in order to protect children from the risks of information technologies” To date, 39 thousand 920 people have benefited from the training given on topics such as “, “recommended web and reporting addresses”, “classification system used for digital games”.
In addition to these trainings, the Ministry has diversified its efforts to protect children from digital risks, and within the framework of the Vision Document and Action Plan for the Protection and Strengthening of the Family covering the years 2024-2028, it provides families with media literacy and conscious media use, digital parenting, against possible risks in the digital environment such as cyber bullying and digital crimes. will provide some protective training.
In addition, training programs on digital literacy regarding the conscious use of technology will be expanded for primary and high school students. Trainings, seminars, and sports, technology and culture camps will be increased so that young people can consciously benefit from the opportunities of technology and media.
On the other hand, in order to protect children from harmful content, the Ministry created the Child-Friendly Applications (DUY) website and reporting line so that citizens can easily report content, publications and applications that they consider harmful. To date, 2 thousand 432 content transactions have been carried out through the website and reporting line.
